2nd International Photonics Summer School (IPSS) 2008
"Illumination, Imaging and Projection"
Background:
Summer schools are a proven tool to bring industrial and academic developers together and communicate advanced technological subjects in an efficient manner. The idea of establishing an International Photonics Summer School began in the minds of stakeholders of the photonics cluster in Tucson/ AZ and Ottawa/ Canada. The first IPSS took place in August 2006 at the Berlin-Adlershof campus and was hosted by Humboldt University, Institute of Physics.
During a meeting at Photonics West 2008 in San José, California, the decision was made to propose a second summer school of this type, taking place again at the Science and Tech Park Berlin-Adlershof. The agreed goal is to offer advanced scientific issues, relevant topics for the academia, students and young professionals from industry and practical experience.
Topics: Ilumination, Imaging and Projection
Scope of the program:
New solid-state light sources: LEDs, diode lasers, and RGB-laser systems
Illumination design and new optical components for the illumination path, characterization
MEMS, scanner and micro display technologies
Laser-based holographic/micro projection and structured illumination, advantages and challenges
Implementation in industrial and medical illumination, imaging and projection systems
Developments reports on packaging, miniaturization, complete system design and corporate experience in product development
Career and Matchmaking Component
It is our pleasure to welcome international students and companies to Berlin-Adlershof. As a crucial aspect of our Summer School 2008 program, we are excited to offer students and young professionals the chance to network, seek career guidance and placement with a wide array of corporations in the photonics industry. Throughout the program participants will:
Receive dedicated support from a job placement team
